Biography
Glenn Barnes, DO, team physician for the Las Vegas Aces, Las Vegas Aviators, and UNLV Athletics, is an assistant professor in the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV Department of Family and Community Medicine.
A sports medicine specialist, he sees patients at the UNLV Health Sports Medicine Clinic, where he treats members of the community and athletes who are dealing with a wide array of musculoskeletal and sports-related injuries.
Dr. Barnes graduated with his bachelor’s degree in biology from UNLV, and earned his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree credential at Touro University Nevada. He completed a residency in family medicine at Valley Hospital Medical Center and a primary care sports medicine fellowship at UNLV.
Appointed medical director of UNLV Intramural Sports, he is also the associate program director of the UNLV Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship.
Dr. Barnes has particular clinical interests in the detailed evaluation and management of concussions as well as regenerative musculoskeletal medicine.
The original inspiration for Dr. Barnes becoming a physician was a result of his older brother requiring knee surgery. On the day of the surgery, the anesthesiologist was kind enough to show him some of the equipment used for the procedure as well as medication. Since that day he knew what he wanted to do with his life.
