Dr. Gary Shen is an associate professor of surgery, assistant dean for clinical education, and associate program director for the general surgery residency program. Dr. Shen is a graduate of University of Rochester School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency training at the University of Arizona, in Tucson, and his transplant fellowship in Stanford University. He served as the chief of the transplant program at University Medical Center until 2008. In the last few years, Dr. Shen has shifted his efforts to education for medical students and residents. Currently, in addition to clinical practice, he is teaching Problem Based Learning for the inaugural class at UNLV Med and designing the Longitudinal Integrated Curriculum to begin in 2019.
