Get To Know This Resident
Why did you choose the obstetrics and gynecology residency program at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV?
Some of my top priorities when choosing a residency program were culture, family planning, and surgical training. We have a phenomenally supportive culture, and I felt like that came through during my (Zoom) interviews. The family planning experience is very strong and a big priority in this program. I also loved the opportunity to be a primary surgeon early on given there were no fellows competing for cases.
What are your interests within obstetrics and gynecology?
I am looking forward to becoming a generalist. Some of my specific interests are family planning and care for gender diverse individuals. I am also very passionate about health equity and incorporating antiracism into all aspects of our job, from the clinic visit to the operating room.
What is your favorite thing to do in Las Vegas?
There is nothing that brings me more joy than spending a hot summer day at the pool with my co-residents!
What is one fun fact about you?
I got lucky and won the lottery to hike Angel’s Landing in Zion National Park last year!
What is one piece of advice you would give to candidates interested in the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program?
Residency is hard work; make sure you choose somewhere you will be supported whether that be by your family, the work culture, or a location that accommodates your hobbies! Having things that ground you outside of work is crucial.
