After earning an Associate of Arts from the College of Southern Nevada, and a Bachelor of Arts in English Writing from the University of Nevada, Reno, Christopher Nelson is making an impactful career change and is dedicating himself to the world of education. Now, at UNLV, he is working toward a Bachelor of Science in secondary education as well as a Bachelor of Science in geology. Learning is a wonderful part of the human experience, and he is proud to know that he will be a part of that experience for his future students. 

Nelson hopes to create an open-minded, welcoming classroom because access to an engaging education should be available to all students. He is particularly interested in building a learning community for marginalized groups with a focus on passion-driven career readiness. Outside of school, Nelson loves to hike around the valley, read whatever catches his eye, and listen to all sorts of music. As a life-long learner, he is practicing piano and getting involved with birding.
