Biography
Christopher Stream is the Director of the School of Public Policy and Leadership at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). He researches issues of local government and public policy. His research has appeared in a variety of journals, including Public Administration Review, Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory, Political Research Quarterly, the International Journal of Economic Development, and State and Local Government Review.
Dr. Stream started his tenure at UNLV in 2004. He became the School’s founding Director in 2011. During this time, he has focused on situating the School among leading policy schools regionally and nationally. He has done this by developing and offering innovative market-responsive programs delivered both in traditional settings and in online or hybrid formats. Dr. Stream credits the forward-thinking innovations at the School of Public Policy and Leadership to his faculty colleagues. Under his leadership, the School has launched a significant presence in the online learning space offering an online graduate degree in Urban Leadership, as well as an online bachelor’s degree in Urban Studies. The School is now innovating by expanding its experiential learning which will allow the School to truly lead the way in Public Affairs education.
Today, the School of Public Policy and Leadership has earned National Accreditation from NASPAA or the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration. It is the only Nationally Accredited Public Policy program in the State of Nevada. In addition, the School is Nationally Ranked in the Top 100 by US News and World Report. The School is the only Nationally Ranked Public Policy program in the State of Nevada.
Dr. Stream has served as a policy consultant for a variety of government and nonprofit organizations. He has worked with state/local governments and community organizations to evaluate and improve policies and programs. During his career, Dr. Stream has served as project director on dozens of projects with state, local, and nonprofit agencies in Florida, Alabama, and Nevada.
Most recently, Dr. Stream has led several projects in which he and a team of UNLV Graduate students conduct yearlong evaluation studies for local governments and nonprofit organizations in Clark County, Nevada.
