Biography
Carolina Clavel is the manager of the National Institute for the Advancement of Education (NIAE). At the NIAE, she explores education innovations that serve as models nationally and internationally, leveraging the richly diverse context of our communities.
Before working for NIAE, Mrs. Clavel was a local charter school's grants manager. She has over 15 years of experience in higher education in recruitment, retention, student support services, scholarship, and summer programming. In addition, she has ten years of experience implementing private, state, and federal-funded grants and gifts.
As the manager of the Nevada Promise Scholarship at the College of Southern Nevada, she worked with state and school leadership to recruit, process, and support more than 35,000 applicants (and their parents), as well as 1,500 mentors, non-profit organizations, and school administrators during the first four years of the program. At UNLV, she was part of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions as their early outreach coordinator. She developed and implemented the national campaign Raising Rebels and the peer-to-peer mentoring program GEAR UP for the future K-10 curriculum.
Mrs. Clavel graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration from UNLV (Go Rebels!) and an MBA from Southern States University.
