Biography
Deputy Fire Chief Billy Samuels was born and raised in Las Vegas, graduated from Valley High School in 1993, received a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from the University of Nevada, Reno and a Master’s of Science in Crisis and Emergency Management from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
He began his career as a firefighter with Clark County Fire in 2001, became a paramedic in 2003, transitioned to engineer in 2005, and promoted to captain in 2011, battalion chief in 2019, and deputy chief in 2020. Chief Samuels also was a member of the Clark County Honor Guard. Chief Samuels ran the Operations of the Family Assistance Center after 1 October, under the direction of then Deputy Chief Steinbeck.Billy ran the Multi-Agency Coordination Center for Clark County during COVID, New Year's Eve (2020 - present), Formula 1, Mt. Charleston Flooding, UNLV Shooting, Super Bowl 58, and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Office of Emergency Management. NV Task Force 1, one of 28 Fema teams in the country, reports directly to Chief Samuels. Chief Samuels’ hobbies include skiing, hiking and anything outdoors. He is married to Amanda and they are a blended family with five children.
