Get To Know This Resident
Why did you choose the obstetrics and gynecology residency program at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV?
During my sub-internship, I found UNLV OB-GYN to have some of the most supportive residents who encouraged each other to be themselves. The tight-knit community that is present within my program contributes heavily to a healthy learning environment that I felt would be best for me to grow in. UNLV OB-GYN also has incredible training that learns from a high acuity patient population as well as limitless opportunities to advocate and support a population of patients with many societal barriers to health.
What are your interests within obstetrics and gynecology?
I am interested in public health within OB-GYN, especially how to best serve Native American populations as well as other populations that have been let down by the American healthcare system. I am active duty in the US Public Health Service with a 10-year commitment to serve with the Indian Health Service, so I try to learn as much as possible about all of the social aspects that can drive poor health outcomes and disease for underserved populations within OB-GYN.
What is your favorite thing to do in Las Vegas?
I love spending time at the pinball museum as well as going to nightclubs, concerts, and music festivals!
What is one fun fact about you?
I used to DJ regularly at huge underground parties in Chicago and am a lifelong fan of house and rap music.
What is one piece of advice you would give to candidates interested in the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program?
Always be yourself and try to show programs your unique personalities! It’s important that your future colleagues get to know what makes you who you are!
