Amy Smitherman is a Certified Research Administrator that brings nine years of experience in Research
Administration and Research Compliance to the Office of Sponsored Programs. In those nine years, Amy
spent seven years in Pre-award and two years in Human Subjects research oversight, both at Clemson
University. Amy has worked regularly with collaborating institutions, federal, foundational, local, private
industry, and state sponsors. Prior to her role at UNLV, Amy was with Clemson University where she
worked as the Grants Coordinator to the College of Agriculture, Forestry, and Life Sciences and Public
Service in Agriculture. In her role, she worked collaboratively with faculty and processed proposal
submissions daily. She also acted as a reviewer and approver to other Grants Coordinators within the
college. Amy has undergraduate degrees in Accounting and Business Administration and is currently
finishing her Masters in Public Administration at Clemson University. Amy is so excited to join the UNLV
team.
