Biography
Dr. Ozioma C. Nwosu is a dual-certified family and psychiatric nurse practitioner. She has worked in family practice for ten years and in psychiatry for about four years. Prior to this, she served as a staff nurse at the bedside in a neurological unit. She had a head start in nursing education by working as a peer tutor during her entry-level Masters of Science program at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine & Science. This experience steered her towards nursing education. Dr. Nwosu is passionate about helping the underserved and bridging the gap with respect to health disparities. Her practice is guided by the understanding that mental and physical health are not mutually exclusive but interdependent. She believes in integrated medicine as postulated by the American Psychiatric Association.
Dr. Nwosu joined the School of Nursing in January 2024 and hopes to share her love for healthcare and integrated medicine. In her spare time, she loves to read and spend quality time with her husband and children.

Education Background
Dr. Nwosu received her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from California State University, Chico. She obtained her Master of Science in Nursing and post-master certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine & Science. Later, she received her Doctor of Nursing Practice and Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practioner at the University of North Florida.
Research or Scholarship
She has contributed to several research initiatives. In November 2012, Dr. Nwosu was a Gifted Scholars Fellow at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. She was selected to participate in the Washington Family Scholars Program in connection with the Department of Neuroscience. She has also researched for the University of California, Los Angeles, Clinical and Translational Science Institute on the correlation between healthy eating and mortality rates in adults in the U.S.
