Biography

Nikki Rose Ty-Albright, MSN-Ed, RN, RNC-OB, joined the School of Nursing at UNLV after a decade of clinical experience as a bedside labor and delivery nurse in the Las Vegas Valley. She is dedicated to increasing student engagement, fostering strong mentor/mentee relationships, and bringing interactive and game-based learning into the classroom.

Expertise

Ty-Albright specializes in maternal-newborn nursing, specifically intrapartum management of high-risk pregnancies, in which she holds national certification.

She has also taught childbirth education classes to over a hundred local Las Vegas families, preparing them for labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care.

Classes Taught

Ty-Albright primarily teaches courses in the undergraduate nursing program related to maternal-newborn nursing. She has also taught fundamentals skills labs and health assessment. She enjoys working with undergraduate nursing students, helping them build confidence and competence in obstetric care.

Education Background

She is a two-time UNLV alumna, earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2013 and a Master of Science in Nursing, with a focus on Nursing Education in 2024.

Research Interests

Her current research interests include active learning, healthcare simulation, and game-based learning in nursing education.

Awards, Recognitions, and Affiliations

While obtaining her BSN, Ty-Albright was the recipient of the Leadership in Nursing Award in her graduating class, as a result of her active role in the Student Nurses Association. During her nursing career working bedside, she received several nominations for the Daisy Nurse Award. She is currently a member of The National League for Nursing.
