UNLV Center for Academic Enrichment and Outreach Renaming Dedication and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Sept. 25

UNLV will host a formal dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate the renaming of the UNLV Center for Academic Enrichment and Outreach in honor of founding director Dr. William W. Sullivan.

Sullivan joined UNLV in 1978 and built the CAEO into a powerhouse program that today serves more than 25,000 Nevadans annually through more than 30 programs, including the largest suite of TRIO and GEAR UP programs in the nation. Today, CAEO manages federally funded pre-college, college, and adult programs to low-income and first-generation, underrepresented college students, and veterans. 

During his 45-year career at UNLV, Sullivan worked tirelessly to increase college access among the most disadvantaged students from low-income and first generation families. Sullivan passed away in 2023 and left an enduring legacy as a leader, mentor, and tireless advocate of educational attainment for everyone in our community. 

During the ceremony, CAEO staff, current and former students, and university and community leaders will reflect on Sullivan’s legacy and the important role CAEO plays in Southern Nevada today.
