Telecommunications Rate Changes

Telecommunications will implement a rate change for two services due to increased operation costs, effective July 1. The affected services are:

  • Monthly unique extensions
    • New rate: $17/month
    • Includes voicemail without the option to opt out because the new Webex calling solution enables voicemail for owned extensions
  • Emergency support fee
    • New rate: $10/month
    • Required for each unique extension
    • Funds emergency phone support and maintenance

Telecommunications has taken proactive measures to minimize the impact of the rate increase on its customers as much as possible. These measures include:

  • Reducing infrastructure expenses by transitioning to the cloud, saving UNLV an estimated $500,000 over the next five years
  • Reevaluating and freezing the rehiring of some vacant positions
  • Limiting paid-for training and travel
  • Renegotiating contracts with upstream providers
  • Identifying and switching to resellers of new and refurbished hardware at highly reduced prices
  • Implementing process improvements, which have already resulted in reduced labor charges for our customers

Telecommunications is committed to providing cost-effective solutions tailored to customers’ needs. For inquiries regarding rate increases or other telecommunications matters, please contact Telecommunications.
