Submit Feedback on Artwork for Beam Hall by July 30

The December 6 Memorial Committee is working on a plan to add murals and/or digital reproductions of original artwork to the outside of Frank and Estella Beam Hall (BEH) in remembrance of the colleagues we lost on Dec. 6, 2023: Drs. Jerry Cha-Jan Chang, Patricia Navarro Velez, and Naoko Takemaru. We are seeking input from across the UNLV community to inform the eventual call for proposals.

The goal of the artwork is to create a vibrant, welcoming entrance to BEH that honors the teaching legacies of the three faculty members. This artwork is not intended to be a permanent memorial, but will be an addition to various memorial sites being planned, including a permanent memorial yet to be determined.

The committee anticipates commissioning 4-6 works that will adorn the columns at the front of BEH. Feedback from this survey will be incorporated to the call for proposals. The committee will review and judge the proposals and make a recommendation to campus leadership, who will then review, comment, and make a final selection or determination. The goal is to have the artwork installed on the columns by early December 2024. Please complete this anonymous survey. Responses will not be shared outside the committee.

Please submit your answers by July 30, 2024. The subcommittee will review all responses quickly and hope to share the call for proposals in early August.
