Storytelling as Resistance: An Evening With Prisca Dorcas Mojica Rodríguez

The Graduate College is excited to invite the UNLV community to an inspiring evening with acclaimed author Prisca Dorcas Mojica Rodriguez on Oct. 15, 2024, 3:30-6 p.m. at the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art. This special event, hosted by the UNLV Graduate College, will feature Rodriguez’s keynote lecture, “Storytelling as Resistance.”

This lecture will explore the transformative power of storytelling in challenging societal norms and empowering marginalized voices. 

Event Highlights:

  • Keynote Lecture: Discover how storytelling serves as a form of resistance and fosters change.

  • Q&A Session: Engage with Rodriguez in an interactive Q&A discussion about her work and the implications of storytelling. 

  • Book Signing: Following the lecture, take the opportunity to have your copy of her book, Tías and Primas, signed by the author. If you do not have a book, one will be available for purchase.

After the talk, please join us for light refreshments in the beautiful lobby of the museum and enjoy the current exhibition, Contemporary Ex-votos: Devotion Beyond Medium. This exhibition centers on traditional Mexican ex-votos (votive retablo paintings) and features art by contemporary Latinx artists from the United States and Mexico.
