DASH Service Project Sept. 13

DASH is one of our longest running programs and a tradition at UNLV. Every couple of Fridays out of the month, UNLVolunteers partners with a local community partner to prepare, deliver and serve peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to hand out to our local houseless community.

DASH participants will have the opportunity to sign up for one of two shifts–a meal prep shift and/or the delivery shift:

  • The meal prep shift volunteers will meet at the eating bar on the first floor of the UNLV Student Union for a quick facilitation and educational activity. Then, they will prepare over 200 sack lunches to be distributed to our Vegas houseless community. The meal prep shift credits 1.5 hours of service hours to all participants who are interested.
  • The delivery shift volunteers will meet at the eating bar on the first floor of the UNLV Student Union at a designated time to help load the sack lunches. Participants will then commute to the distribution center in our designated university van to distribute the sack lunches. Participants will have the opportunity to also volunteer at the kitchen and fill any other needs that our community partner may need at that moment.

Volunteers are encouraged to sign up for both shifts, depending on availability.
