10th Annual Summit on Nevada Education Tomorrow

The 10th Annual Summit on Nevada Education will gather education and community leaders, researchers, and educators to highlight Nevada’s progress in many education and mental health areas. In celebration of the summit’s 10th anniversary, the event will explore what we've learned about education and mental health in the last decade. More importantly, presenters will be sharing their ideas and innovations in a variety of areas, including:

  • Supporting workforce development efforts
  • Serving Indigenous communities
  • Providing mental health supports to students in rural communities
  • Serving the educational needs and aspirations of incarcerated students

A highlight of this year’s event will be inducting the inaugural class of inductees into the College of Education Hall of Fame. Honorees include:

  • Gary Ackerman, Ackerman Center/Grant-a-Gift
  • Peter Guzman, President, Latin and Henderson Chambers of Commerce
  • Lisa Morris Hibbler, Executive Director, Shaquille O’Neal Foundation
  • Wayne Tanaka (posthumously), long-time educator and administrator
  • Joyce Woodhouse, Former Nevada State Senator

The luncheon keynote will feature Sean Tory, co-founder and vice president of King of Jewels, a local non-profit that strives to engage, empower, and encourage young men of color to reach their fullest potential. Tory will talk about how using a strength-focused growth mindset opens us up for innovative advances in education and mental health.
