The visual and performing arts are in full swing throughout the state. Making good on its promises to bring more activity and people to Commercial Center, Clark County has just launched a program with UNLV, which will produce cultural events at the East Sahara complex.

The first debate between the Gov. Steve Sisolak, a Democrat, and his Republican opponent, Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo, is set for Oct. 18. The second, between Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, a Democrat, and her Republican opponent, former attorney general Adam Laxalt, is scheduled for Oct. 20. Both are set to take place at UNLV’s Judy Bayley Theater and will be aired statewide by KLAS and Univision

The Miss Nevada Scholarship Organization introduces the newly crowned Miss Nevada, Heather Renner, and Miss Nevada’s Outstanding Teen, Megan Dwyer.

Heather Renner of Reno was crowned Miss Nevada last weekend and will go on to compete at the Miss America competition later this year in Connecticut.

On Friday, July 1, 22-year-old Heather Renner was crowned the 72nd Miss Nevada. She was born and raised in Reno and is currently studying at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas majoring in theater and double minoring in political science and vocal performance.

She says she will use the roughly $30,000 in scholarship money she earned with her Miss Nevada title to pay for her education at UNLV where she is majoring in theater.
