A series of workshops for non-traditional students, titled "Setting Goals and Leadership Roles," will take place this fall at UNLV.
Sponsored by the Jean Nidetch Women's Center, the four workshops are free and open to the public. Leading the sessions will be motivational speaker Deborah Wicker Wright.
All the sessions are scheduled for 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Classroom Building Complex, Room C-218. Free parking is available in the green lot of the Thomas and Mack Center.
The workshop schedule is as follows:
* Sept. 12, "The Dynamics of Self Esteem, A Positive Mental Attitude, and Assertiveness."
* Oct. 3, "Communication and Speaking with Authority."
* Oct. 24, "Goal Setting and Maximizing."
* Nov. 14, "Leadership and Developing Successful Interpersonal Relationships."
"The purpose of the workshops is to empower individuals to shape their lives and careers to achieve their goals," said Wicker Wright, president of Information Processing Systems Integration and Consulting Inc. "As an alumna of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, I feel that it is important to share with women and men the steps to developing a positive mental attitude and strategies that may help them become assertive, confident, articulate, and dynamic goal-oriented leaders."
Wicker Wright is author of two books, "Career Development and Self Esteem Guide for Success" and "Career Development Self Esteem Workbook."
