"Setting Goals and Leadership Roles," a series of three workshops led by motivational speaker and trainer Deborah Wicker Wright, is scheduled to begin Sept. 18 at UNLV.
The free workshops, which are open to the public and are intended for both professionals and non-professionals, take an in-depth look at essential areas of personal and professional growth using audio tapes, group activities, personal inventory questionnaires, and interactive discussions.
Motivational entertainment will be a new feature of the workshops this fall. Special guest vocalist Jessica Etienne will be featured during the series.
Topics to be discussed are:
--"Self-esteem and Positive Mental Attitude" on Sept. 18.
-- "Dynamics of Goal Setting" on Oct. 16.
--"Communication and Speaking with Authority" on Nov. 20.
All the workshops are set for 6-7:30 p.m. in the Classroom Building Complex, Room A-112. The Classroom Building Complex is located just east of the Thomas & Mack Center.
Wicker Wright is a UNLV alumna, having earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in education from the university. She earned a doctoral degree in education from Nova Southeastern University. The founder and president of Information Processing Systems Integration and Consulting Inc., she is the author of numerous manuals, guides, articles, and grants for the educational community.
This is the sixth year that the workshops, which are sponsored by UNLV's Jean Nidetch Women's Center, have been offered.
