"Health Investments for Women: A Savings Account for Quality of Life" will be the topic of the University Forum lecture set for March 6.
Dr. Jean Henry, an assistant professor in UNLV's department of health and physical education, will discuss women's health issues. During her presentation, she will explain how investing in a "health savings account" through healthy lifestyle habits is as important to future quality of life as investing in a financial savings account.
On March 15, the University Forum lecture will feature Tom Gregor, an anthropology professor from Vanderbilt University, who will present "Culture and Love: A View From Around the World."
Gregor has worked with different cultures from around the world, such as the Mehinaku Indians of Brazil, who actively discourage love relationships from forming among its members. Nonetheless, individuals do form romantic relationships with one another. Gregor will explore how the power of love brings people together, even when lacking cultural support.
Both lectures are set for 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Natural History. All University Forum lectures are free and open to the public.
The University Forum lecture series is sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts and is underwritten by the UNLV Foundation. For more information on the series, call 895-3401 or send an E-mail to: forum@nevada.edu.
