UNLV's Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing International program will present an evening of readings by poets Catherine Wagner, Chelsey Minnis, and Rebecca Wolff on Nov. 19.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 7 p.m. at the Jewel Box Theatre in the Clark County Public Library, located at 1401 E. Flamingo Road.
The three poets, all master of fine arts graduates of the University of Iowa Writers Workshop, currently are touring the West. While in Las Vegas, they will present readings from their works and will answer questions about writing and publishing.
Wagner holds a doctorate in English from the University of Utah. She is the past recipient of a Ruth Lilly Poetry Fellowship and an Academy of American Poets Prize. Her latest work is titled Miss America.
Minnis was a teaching-writing fellow at the Iowa Writers Workshop. Several of her poems have been nominated for the Pushcart Prize. Her latest work, Zirconia, was a finalist in the National Poetry Series and winner of the 2001 Alberta Prize.
Wolff is the founder and editor of the literary journal Fence. She is the author of Manderley, a volume in the National Poetry Series, which was selected by noted poet Robert Pinsky.
The readings are being cosponsored by the Clark County Public Library, which is part of the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District, and the Nevada Humanities Committee.
