UNLV's Department of Physical Therapy and Blaze Sport will host the Fourth Annual Wellness and Disability Awareness Event April 26 at Children's Memorial Park, located at Rainbow Boulevard and Gowan Road.
The event will begin at 7:30 a.m. with a five-kilometer fun run and one-mile fun walk. Registration for this event begins at 7 a.m. The cost is $15 per person if registration is completed before April 12 or $20 per person after April 12. All participants will receive a T-shirt.
A wheelchair basketball tournament will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Check-in time is 8 a.m. Each team is guaranteed to play three games, and each player will receive a T-shirt. The tournament is limited to the first 16 teams of four players. All equipment and instruction will be provided. The cost is $80 per team if registration is completed before April 12 or $100 per team after April 12.
BlazeSports will host a Wheelchair Sports Camp. Instruction will be provided for those interested in rugby, basketball, golf, track and field, and hand cycling. BlazeSports is a sports movement for individuals with physical disabilities. Its program is designed to enhance the ability of novice and developing athletes in learning and improving their skills in adaptive sports.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Foundation for Positively Kids.
