Author Marc Reisner will lead a "community conversation" on water issues in the Las Vegas Valley and throughout the West on March 18 at UNLV.
Reisner is the author of "Cadillac Desert" and the featured narrator of the four-part PBS series by the same name. He will lead a panel of local experts through a discussion of a variety of water issues.
The public is invited to attend this free event, which will take place from 7 p.m. to8:30 p.m. in the Classroom Building Complex, Room A-112. Free parking will be available in the nearby "red" lot at the Thomas & Mack Center.
Others participating in the conversation will be Pat Mulroy, general manager of the Southern Nevada Water Authority; Jim Deacon, chair of UNLV's environmental studies program; and Chris Chairsell, provost of the Charleston campus of the Community College of Southern Nevada and former president of AquaVision.
The program is sponsored by UNLV's Honors College and Greenspun College of Urban Affairs, the Southern Nevada Water Authority, the Desert Research Institute, the Clark County Conservation District, KLVX channel 10, and the Nevada Humanities Committee.
