More than 200 volunteers from UNLV's department of hotel management will participate in the Rebel Recycling Enhancement Day Sept. 14 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the UNLV Recycling Complex, located next to the Stan Fulton Building at the corner of Flamingo Road and Swenson Street.
Upper division students enrolled in the hotel management department's facilities management course will supervise the day's projects, which are designed to improve the recycling program's equipment and facilities. Volunteers will help construct containment units for cardboard materials, build a shade structure for the outdoor recycling yard, and organize the program's main work areas.
Since its creation in 1995, UNLV's Recycling Program has expanded its collection of recyclable materials and currently recycles approximately 20 tons of paper and cardboard each month.
