Jerry Saltz, art critic for the Village Voice and twice nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in Criticism, will be a guest speaker at 8 p.m. Nov. 12, as part of the UNLV art department's Visiting Artist Program, coordinated by art professor Robert Wysocki. The lecture will be held in Classroom Building Complex, Room A-108, on the UNLV campus. It is free and open to the public.
Saltz's extensive background includes writing for Frieze, Parkett, Time Out New York and Flash Art, as well as editing three books on contemporary art. He has lectured at Harvard, The Museum of Modern Art, The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, The Whitney Museum of American Art, The Saint Louis Art Museum, and many more. He has taught at such institutions as Columbia, Yale School of Photography, The Rhode Island School of Design, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and School of Visual Arts.
Saltz was twice nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in Criticism (2000 and 2001) and was a finalist in 2000.
