The next University Forum lecture will explore the impact of the Black Arts Movement on the works of female African-American poets of the 1960s.
Ajuan Mance, an English professor at Mills College, will speak on "Revolutionary Dreams: African-American Women in the Black Arts Movement" on Oct. 2. Mance will discuss how the discourse of that movement influenced the development of the female African-American poetry.
On Oct. 10, UNLV counseling professor Mark Odell will present "Keys to Relationship Success."
In his lecture, Odell will outline the necessary skills -- and will help participants gauge their own preparedness -- for successful relationships.
Both lectures begin at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Natural History. All University Forum lectures are free and open to the public.
The University Forum lecture series is sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts and is underwritten by the UNLV Foundation. For more information on the series, call 895-3401 or send an E-mail to: forum@nevada.edu.
