The Board of Directors for the newly formed UNLV College of Business Alumni Association recently held its first meeting and elected Douglas Crook, sales and finance associate for Triad Development, to serve as the association's president.
The new association is a joint effort of the College of Business and the UNLV Alumni Association. Crook, who is a 1997 graduate of the College of Business, will serve a one-year term as president.
"I look forward to working with the college's dean, Richard Flaherty, and with the other board members to stay connected with the College of Business alumni and to help broaden exposure for the college," said Crook.
The board also elected the following members to serve as officers: Donya M. Monroe, 1st vice president; Pamela S. Newell, 2nd vice president; Randy A. Garcia, treasurer; Leigh-Ann Lichtenberger, secretary; and Paul C. Page, member-at-large.
Crook said that board members will be working to form committees to get alumni involved with the new association. Additionally, they will be formalizing a mission that will mirror the UNLV Alumni Association mission, which is, "To promote and enhance the university community by providing leadership, support and other resources and benefits for the university."
Flaherty said that the College of Business Alumni Board and association members will have an exciting and diverse program to implement.
"The objectives of the alumni group are to facilitate communication and other interaction between the college and its alumni and to generate alumni support of the college," Flaherty said. "The board and members will develop programs and other activities relevant to Business College issues and generate endowment and other funds through the UNLV Foundation to meet some of the needs of the college. The board also will create programs designed to help members of the alumni association meet their professional and personal goals."
The following UNLV College of Business alumni were appointed to serve on the Board of Directors for the College of Business Alumni Association: Tom Brooker, Kafoury, Armstrong & Co.; Bruce A.
