Approximately 1,000 students are expected to participate in the winter commencement ceremony on Dec. 18. Among those being highlighted at the ceremony will be UNLV's first Millennium Scholar graduate.
The event, which is open to the public, will take place at 4 p.m. at the Thomas & Mack Center. Because of extra security measures, persons attending the ceremony are advised to arrive at least one hour prior to the event's starting time.
Students participating in the graduation ceremony should report to the Cox Pavilion tunnel, located on the east side of the Thomas & Mack Center, no later than 3 p.m.
An honorary doctor of laws degree will be awarded posthumously to Roman Zorn. He served as UNLV's second president from 1969 to 1973 and then taught in the history department until 1982. He died Aug. 8, 2002.
Also being honored is local banker and university benefactor Selma Bartlett. She will receive the President's Medal.
A reception will be held for all graduates and their guests on the concourse of the Thomas & Mack Center following the ceremony.
