DATE: Thursday, November 6, 2008
TIME: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
LOCATION: UNLV Alumni Walk (between Carol C. Harter Classroom Building Complex and Lied Library) on the UNLV campus
The Jean Nidetch Women's Center (JNWC) at UNLV and the Southern Nevada Affiliate of Susan G. Komen will host the "Komen On the Go" tour at UNLV Nov. 6 to encourage participants to take charge of their breast health and become empowered to join the breast cancer movement.
The "Komen On the Go" signature bright pink vehicles convert into an interactive learning center featuring kiosks with information on the breast cancer movement, recommendations and instructions about breast health awareness, inspirational videos and a "graffiti wall" for sharing memories or pledging support for the cause. Local breast cancer survivors and health care professionals will also be on location to share their experiences and knowledge.
The event is part of the JNWC's ongoing "Rebel Rally for the Cause," funded through a grant from Susan G. Komen for the Cure and dedicated to increasing breast cancer education and awareness in the community and among the diverse population of students, staff and faculty at UNLV.
For more information, members of the public can contact Ashlyn Gray at (702) 895-0604. Details on additional outreach events affiliated with "Rebel Rally for a Cause" can be found online.
