UNLV officials are warning the public to beware of scam artists purporting to sell magazine subscriptions on behalf of the Hank Greenspun School of Communication and its students.
UNLV has received complaints from citizens who have been asked by young men to buy magazine subscriptions that they implied were connected to a school of communication program.
"We have no students out selling magazines on the school's behalf," said Tom Flagg, director of News and Public Information at UNLV. "From time to time we receive complaints about persons claiming to be UNLV students and to be selling magazines or other items to support the university or student programs. We would like the public to know that none of the university's academic programs is supported in this manner. If members of the public believe they have been approached by one of these persons, they can call UNLV News and Public Information at 895-3101 to check on the legitimacy of the person's claim."
