Five UNLV students recently were named recipients of the Harriet and Fred Cox Engineering Design Awards, which are presented annually to the winners of the senior design competition held by the university's Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering.
Taking first place in the competition was electrical engineering student Kyle Holmes with his project, Direct Modulation Local Oscillator Universal Pager Base Station. He received $1,000.
A team of students, mechanical engineering students Kwame Coleman and Kyle Kisebach and electrical engineering student Frank Oh, took second place with their project, NOMAD -- Upper Extremity Continuous Passive Motion Machine. The team will share a $500 award.
Winning third place was electrical engineering student Adam Howard with his Laser Raster Projector project. He was awarded $250.
The awards were presented at the annual Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering Senior Appreciation Dinner saluting the college's graduating seniors.
