A group of UNLV students have organized the Rebel Recycling Olympics, an event that will take place during UNLV's Earth Day celebrations April 25.
The olympics will be held 12:20-3:30 p.m. on the grassy field next to John S. Wright Hall.
Four teams from different student organizations will compete against each other in events such as Telephone Book Shot Put; Aluminum Can Crushing Relay; Aluminum Can Basketball; Paper Towel Roll Passing; Plastic Bottle Roll; Cardboard Obstacle Course; Paper Sorting Competition; Aluminum Can Collection Weigh-In; and a Recycling Quiz Game Show.
The Rebel Recycling Olympics was created as a class project by students enrolled in the facilities management class. The class is designed to give students practical experience in managing a special event.
Prizes have been donated by the restaurant P.F. Chang's.
