UNLV students have a new incentive this year to register early for their fall classes.

Undergraduates who register for the Fall 2006 semester by 5 p.m. (PDT) Monday, May 22, will be eligible to win either a $300 credit at the UNLV bookstore or one free 3-credit class.

Early registration is important, UNLV officials say, because early headcounts determine whether new classes or sections will be added to meet increased demand.

"We want to encourage students to register early so that we can better meet their expectations," says Vice President for Student Life Rebecca Mills.

Registration will be available to students based on their class standing:

• Senior Registration: May 5-11
• Junior Registration: May 12-16
• Sophomore Registration: May 17-18
• Returning Freshman: May 17-18
• New Freshman: May 19

The Fall 2006 class schedule, as well as specific registration dates and times, are posted at register.unlv.edu. Students may access registration any day on or after their start date, but not before.
