The UNLV Anthropology Society, a student organization, is sponsoring two events on campus as part of Anthropology Week Celebration.
The events are free and open to the public.
Anthropology Day will take place April 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Educational booths will be set up on the grassy area located east of John S. Wright Hall on campus. Activities for school-age children will include storytelling and face painting, as well as textile, rock art, and pottery-making demonstrations. Other booths will offer information on primatology and the applications of linguistics.
On April 26, Vicki Cassman, a UNLV assistant professor of anthropology, will present a lecture about textiles titled "Dye Technology in Prehistoric Northern Chile." Her presentation will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Natural History.
