Monica Moradkhan, a senior in UNLV's William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration, will be honored with a Student of Excellence Award at the International Hospitality Awards luncheon April 15 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center .

The award is presented annually by the Las Vegas International Hotel and Restaurant Show to students from across the country who demonstrate academic excellence in hospitality education.

Moradkhan currently serves as UNLV student body president and is also the owner of her own business, Balloons in the City. Upon graduation, she plans to attend graduate school and to expand her business into a full-service special events planning company.

The luncheon, which will feature Mayor Oscar Goodman as the keynote speaker, will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. and is part of the 25th annual Las Vegas International Hotel and Restaurant Show.
