Bob Ashby, assistant director of purchasing and contracts at UNLV, was named the International Committee Person of the Year earlier this month by the National Association of Purchasing Management.

He was selected for the award "for his outstanding leadership and contributions in expanding the international resources available to NAPM membership." He received the award at the organization's 82nd Annual International Purchasing Conference in Washington, D.C.

Ashby, who has been at UNLV for one year, has worked in the field of purchasing and supply management for more than 15 years. Before coming to UNLV, he worked at McCarran International Airport. He has been a member of NAPM since 1982.

"We at UNLV are very proud of Bob Ashby's award," said Norval Pohl, vice president for finance and administration. "This is the highest recognition that organization can bestow on a purchasing professional. It reflects well on Bob Ashby's talents and on the university."
