It is that special time of the year when football, live music, nitrogen ice cream, and academia all seamlessly blend together. That’s right–it’s Homecoming Week!
From Saturday (Oct. 8) through Oct.15, a daily slate of activities are planned to celebrate our students, graduates, educators and community.
The signature event is the Rebel Homecoming Festival and parade, which is expected to bring in about 5,000 people and features amusement rides, live music from local band Velvet Elvis, and promotes the educational work being done around our campuses.
In the past, students from the College of Sciences have brought out their popular nitrogen ice cream, Fine Arts dazzles with its costume designs, and Engineering always has inspiring new technology to show off! This energetic, family atmosphere allows alumni, students and faculty to connect and reconnect during this yearly tradition.
When: Wednesday, Oct. 12, 5-9 p.m.
Where: Pida Plaza and along the nearby Academic Mall.
But wait, there’s more…
- Other highlight events throughout the week include our UNLV Alumni Day of Service on Saturday, Oct. 8, at Charlie Frias Park. Dozens of students will help clean up the park from 9-11 a.m., in an effort to beautify our community.
- And what homecoming would be complete without some football? The Alumni Homecoming Tailgate at the Rebel Village is at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, in Allegiant Stadium’s Lot C. This features an all-you-can-eat buffet, an open bar, giveaways, and plenty of activities for the little ones. The event is expected to sell out, so registration is required.
- The UNLV Rebels will then take on the Air Force Falcons inside Allegiant Stadium. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
You can check out all of the scheduled events on our official homecoming page.
