For the fifth consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report ranked UNLV as one of the nation's best for accepted student enrollment.
The national publication releases a list each spring of top universities by yield - the rate of students accepted who decide to enroll. UNLV ranked 13th overall (between Ivy League schools Columbia and Brown) and fourth among public universities on the list.
Rankings were based on fall 2013 enrollment for 261 national universities. UNLV enrolled 60.4 percent of admitted students, far outpacing the national average of 34.1 percent. According to the report, students consider prestige, affordability, academic and social fit when making their college choice.
UNLV first cracked the top 25 in 2011 and has been a fixture in the top 15 for the past four years. Enrollment officials credit enhanced student recruitment efforts and residential living options, student services, facilities and strong and diversified academic programs for the top-choice school ranking.
The university welcomed its largest-ever freshman class in 2013, and followed that with an even larger entering class last fall. Enrollment gains are occurring across the university but are especially evident in engineering and health sciences.
U.S. News & World Report also ranks UNLV among the nation's most diverse colleges for undergraduates. UNLV is currently tied for sixth.
