William Johnson, an assistant professor of health physics at UNLV, was awarded the November Alumni Faculty Award for Excellence in Academics and Student Focus.
Johnson, who joined UNLV in 1995, has co-authored several articles and has presented or co-presented nine papers, six of which were published as abstracts in the journals Announcer and Health Physics.
He formerly served as a U.S. Department of Energy health physics fellow and as a research assistant at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
As a consultant, Johnson has contributed to several reports for such organizations as the Department of Energy.
He is a member of the Health Physics Society, the American Chemical Society, and the American Association of Physics Teachers.
He received his doctorate and master's degree in health physics from the Georgia Institute of Technology and his bachelor's degree from the University of Central Florida.
Johnson was honored at the alumni leadership luncheon Nov. 3 along with the five other recipients of this year's Alumni Faculty Award.
