Details
The State of the University address officially kicks off the new academic year. During the address, President Snyder will present the university's plan to earn the top research designation from the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching - Carnegie Research-Very High.
Snyder will discuss the university's "Path to Tier One" planning process, which will include a comprehensive analysis this year of all levels of the institution to assess where the university is now and what it will take to become Tier One.
Tier One, Carnegie Research - Very High universities yield huge returns on state and community investments and attract large amounts of research dollars that generate economic activity and bolster academic and research programs. Only 108 universities currently hold Carnegie's highest designation, with none in Nevada.
UNLV's multi-year strategy for reaching this top designation will result in the university attracting top students and faculty, educating the region's diversifying population and workforce, and driving economic activity through increased research and community partnerships that will lead to a more vibrant and sustainable economy.
The address will be lived-streamed on UNLV-TV.
