The annual National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week will be held October 16 -22. This year's iChoose theme is designed to extensively promote alcohol abuse prevention by empowering students to make safe choices. UNLV will host a variety of events to provide support and information to students concerning their health, education, and relationships in connection to their decisions about alcohol.
Monday, October 17
10 a.m.-2 p.m. - Kickoff Booth at the Moyer Student Union will provide additional information about the week's events and free prizes and giveaways.
6 p.m.-9 p.m. - Free evening of live music at the Amphitheatre.
Tuesday, October 18
10 a.m.-1 p.m. - The Fatal Vision Program will demonstrate how alcohol impairment can lead to devastating consequences. The Fatal Vision course and UNLV public safety officers will be located on the Alumni Walk near the Student Health Center.
Wednesday, October 19
6 p.m. - Julie Stoffer of MTV's Real World will speak on alcohol awareness following a social and mocktail reception.
11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. - Sandy Haverly with STOP DUI will give a presentation in CBC Auditorium 112. STOP DUI is an organization dedicated to prevention of driving under the influence and the support of victims of this crime.
8 p.m-10 p.m. - Free Movie Night at the CBC Theatre in A108.
Friday, October 21 - Sunday, October 23
UNLV Outdoor Programs will take students on a hike at Buckskin Gulch in southern Utah. Call 895-3575 for more details.
