The UNLV Performing Arts Center is proud to present the often imitated, never duplicated pop musical group Rockapella as the 30 th Anniversary Season Finale at 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 20. This certifiably unique group has taken the previously stodgy music genre of a cappella and brought it full-force into the 21 st century.

Finding them on television over the years has become a frequent and pleasant surprise for millions, whether it be on numerous national commercials and talk shows, or as regulars for five seasons on the award-winning PBS program Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego?

The original group, all young Brown University alumni, was formed for the sheer love of performing; singing on New York City street corners with a hat at their feet. They would earn enough for dinner, and business cards dropped in their hat led to work at private parties and club appearances.

Today Rockapella - Scott Leonard, Jeff Thacher, Kevin Wright, George Baldi, and John Brown - are the undisputed kings of contemporary a cappella music. They have released successful albums in both the U.S and Japan, and have toured to every corner of the globe.

Tickets to Rockapella are $35, $45, and $70 and can be purchased at the Performing Arts Center Box Office at 895-ARTS (2787) or by visiting pac.unlv.edu. Student rush tickets are $12.50 each and available one hour prior to each event, based on availability and with valid student I.D. UNLV faculty and staff discounts also are available. A $.50 facilities fee, in addition to the ticket price, is charged on all Performing Arts Center tickets. The box office is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Founded in 1976, the Performing Arts Center at UNLV continues to be Southern Nevada's premier performing arts venue. Located on the north end of the UNLV campus, the PAC hosts a variety of performances each year in two distinct series - the Charles Vanda Master Series and New York Stage & Beyond.
