UNLV's fall 1998 University Forum lecture series opens in September with a presentation by novelist Richard Wiley about his latest book, followed by a discussion by Southern California artist Clayton Campbell about his most recent work.
Wiley, a UNLV English professor, will read from and discuss his fifth novel, Ahmed's Revenge, on Sept. 9. Published in July by Random House, the novel is a literary mystery set in Kenya in 1974 and delves into the world of ivory poaching.
On Sept. 11, Campbell will discuss his latest body of work, titled "At the Edge of Time," which is a series of large-scale portraits that are currently installed in UNLV's Marjorie Barrick Museum of Natural History. His lecture is co-sponsored by the Nevada Arts Council and the Rio All Suite Casino Resort.
Both lectures are set for 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of UNLV's Marjorie Barrick Museum of Natural History. All University Forum lectures are free and open to the public.
The University Forum lecture series is sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts and underwritten by the UNLV Foundation. For additional information on the series, call 895-3401.
