Marc Cardinalli, Administrative Code Officer at UNLV, has been promoted to the position of Assistant General Counsel, effective January 1.
Cardinalli, in addition to his current role as Administrative Code Officer, will be responsible for assisting UNLV's General Counsel. Specific job duties include assisting with advice and counsel concerning legal rights and obligations of the university, review and negotiation of contracts, review of legal implications of pending legislation, and legal research and review of such documents as proposed legislation, administrative policies and contracts.
"Marc's extensive knowledge of education law and his strong personal relationships on campus will help the General Counsel's office provide the highest quality legal services to Dr. Harter and her staff," said UNLV General Counsel Richard Linstrom. "His experience will be a great service to the university as it continues to grow and develop as a premier urban institution."
Cardinalli has been with UNLV since 1998 as the Administrative Code Officer. During this time he has worked with policy analysis and implementation, intellectual property development, and institution contract control. He has also acted as chair of the copyright policy committee and is an officer for the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Prior to coming to UNLV, Cardinalli acted as the assistant general counsel for the University and Community College System of Nevada and was a deputy attorney general for the state of Nevada.
Cardinalli received his juris doctorate from the McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific in 1986, and is a member of the Bar in the states of Nevada and California. He is also a member of the Federal Bar of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.
