LAS VEGAS – July 17, 2017 – UNLV President Len Jessup announced today that Jean Vock will join the university as its Vice President for Finance and Business and Chief Financial Officer, effective Aug. 28.
Vock has more than 30 years of university and corporate finance experience, mostly as an executive business administrator for the University of Arizona in the central finance office and various academic units.
“Jean has a keen ability to anticipate and adapt to changes in the industry and a record for developing and empowering staff to be successful,” said Jessup. “The hard-working members of the Division of Finance and Business have contributed greatly to our Top Tier vision, and I’m confident that Jean’s leadership will help the division, and the university, continue to advance in new and innovative ways.”
As assistant dean for finance and administration at the Eller College of Management and previously the College of Nursing, Vock has managed budget, finance, facilities and construction, human resources, and technology – and she was instrumental in developing and implementing strategic plans. Recently, she was a key member of the team responsible for replacing the university’s enterprise financial system.
Previously, she was assistant comptroller and audit coordinator for the university for 15 years, where she managed university-wide financial accounting, reporting and auditing, and also published the institution’s annual financial report.
Vock also worked in the Office of the Auditor General for the State of Arizona and has experience in private industry, spending time with Hughes Aircraft and PeopleSoft, Inc.
“I look forward to joining UNLV and helping the institution achieve its Top Tier vision,” said Vock. “I am impressed with the collaborative culture and forward-thinking style of the leadership team, and I am excited to work with and learn from colleagues on campus, system wide, and in the community.”
A board member for both the national and regional associations of college and university business officers, Jean served as western association president this past year and earned a “Rising Star” award from the national organization in 2014. She is highly respected by her peers nationwide and is a frequent presenter at national and regional conferences.
