Details
The Center for Academic Enrichment and Outreach (CAEO) at UNLV coordinates the largest suite of federally funded TRiO and GEAR UP programs in the nation. The programs help first generation and low-income middle and high school students with academic counseling and tutoring, personal counseling, mentoring, and financial guidance to help them succeed and ultimately attend college.
Event attendees will include students and staff from area middle schools, high schools and colleges who participate in the TRIO and GEAR UP programs. Congressional representatives and other elected officials, NSHE regents, university administrators and Clark County School District administrators, counselors, and teachers are also expected to attend.
For the past 12 years, the CAEO has presented the Educational Pioneer Award to those who have supported increased access to higher education for first-generation college students.
Close to 20,000 local students are served by 19 federally funded UNLV TRiO and GEAR UP programs. Learn more at the Center for Academic Enrichment and Outreach page.
