Details
As a part of its Peace in the Desert film screening series, on April 8, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. the Saltman Center of UNLV Boyd School of Law presents "Burma VJ," an Academy Award nominated documentary about journalists who filmed the events surrounding the uprising against the Myanmar military regime. Despite the prohibition of foreign news under the threat of jail or torture, this group of journalists worked undercover to reveal the protests and police brutality to the global audience. Michael Adler, Woodrow Wilson Center Public Policy Scholar and former correspondent for Agence France-Presse News Agency, will be providing commentary. Adler covered the Burma uprising in 1988.
This event is free and open to the public. No RSVP is required. Visit law.unlv.edu/Saltman_Events.html for more information.
