The University of Nevada, Las Vegas announced today that the university's Invent the Future campaign has brought in more than $341 million--an increase of $78 million since the campaign was launched publicly in September 2005.
With more than 700 volunteer advisory board members assisting with the campaign, UNLV is not only reaching its monetary goals, but is also making great strides toward another critical goal--involving more community members and alumni in the life of the university.
The number of volunteer groups has doubled since the campaign began in 2002. A record number of individuals are now cultivating new relationships, providing expert advice on industry trends, mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, and raising funds in dedicated areas.
"Thanks to these volunteer efforts, our university and its students are now realizing significant benefits," says Nancy Strouse, executive director for the UNLV Foundation. "Our students are gaining a richer academic experience thanks to the growing involvement of our alumni, friends, and business leaders."
As of March 31, 2007, the Invent the Future campaign has raised $181,440,070 in gift revenue to date and $160,081,366 in longer-term gift intentions, for a total of $341,521,436. The goal of the campaign is to raise $500 million by the end of 2008.
Fundraising priorities for the Invent the Future campaign include endowments to assist with recruitment and retention of top students and faculty; funds to provide enhanced learning opportunities through scholarships, fellowships and other programs; and funds to develop innovative learning environments through new and renovated facilities and special equipment. The campaign is the largest effort of its type in state history.
