The University of Nevada, Las Vegas today announced that in its first full public year, the university's Invent the Future campaign brought in more than $69 million, pushing the overall campaign total above $332 million.
The Invent the Future campaign, which is the university's first-ever comprehensive fundraising effort, was launched to the public in September 2005, with $263 million raised during its "quiet" or nucleus gifts phase. The goal of the campaign is to raise $500 million by the end of 2008.
As of Oct. 6, 2006, the Invent the Future campaign has raised $151,281,853 in gift revenue received to date, and $180,801,687 in longer-term gift intentions, for a total of $332,083,540.
Fundraising priorities for the Invent the Future campaign include endowments to assist with recruitment and retention of top students and faculty; funds to provide enhanced learning opportunities through scholarships, fellowships and other programs; and funds toward innovative learning environments, through new and renovated facilities and special equipment. The campaign is the largest effort of its type in state history.
